After a bit of silence the Super Nice Music crew is back, this time with a DJ mix for your aural pleasure made in collaberation with Vice of Genius Collective hailing from Birmingham, UK.
We at Super Nice instantly felt Genius Collective when they sent us a mail with their rendition of Amy Winehouse’s “Stronger Than Me”. We reached out to Vice right away and instantly there was a click and so we decided to do something together. Vice is the brainchild behind Birmingham (Uk) based 7 piece Hip Hop / Soul / Funk band Genius Collective, the creator of Basement Sessions (now on hiatus), and an established producer in his own right. With a myriad of Genius Collective music set to hit the musical waves throughout 2012, Vice offers up a mix to get you ready for the summer time, with a mix of dusty breaks, chilled electronic vibes, acoustic tones and all round good Hip Hop vibes truly representing the Worlwide culture, with music from artists representing the UK, Holland, Spain, US, Japan and many more. The artwork is done by Commonlight from the UK, and is designed in such a way that you can choose to have the Dutch or UK side up.
For those not familair with Genius Collective yet, GC is a seven piece Hip Hop/Soul/Funk band based in Birmingham UK. With the band consisting of a fusion of Hip Hop heads, to classically trained Jazz musicians, their style blends honest, feel good lyrics with funk rhythms to get your head nodding, your mind thinking and your feet moving. Inspired by Bonobo, The Roots, The Bamboos and TY to name a few, Genius Collective aim to hit the scene soulfully with their distinctive sound. Keep an eye out on their Wordpress for their upcoming release ”E=GC2” or check their Bandcamp for some of the gems they dropped already. Also look out for Vice’s debut full production project coming later this year, including the soulful banger “Another Day” featuring New York resident and Zulu Nation member Why G?.

What happens when UK label Associated Minds and the Dutch Super Nice Music come together? It creates a Basketcase. Producer Lemonface from Amsterdam creates a funky soundtrack for the slightly screwed up in the head Ralph Rip Shit to go lyrically bananas on. The dynamic duo are working on a project together and this single is first evidence of that to see the light of day. Expect more from these crusaders in the coming months!

After releasing an ILL video for Still The Same last week, Super Nice’s own John Frost is back to bring us an answer to the question: Who (the hell) is John Frost?? Well, John Frost was not only a key figure in the battle of Armhem, but he also is a true Hip Hop soldier from Arnhem, and just recently joined the Super Nice Music Group. He got together with producer Phonc to officially introduce himself, and to announce the fact that his full length debut “Love, Life, Trials & Tribulations Vol.1” will see the light of day on March 23rd, and that it will be produced by the Arnhem beat wizard Jeejaa. Listen to the full EP below and make sure to hit that download for your iPod! Now you answer the question: Who is… John Frost?

Super Nice Music is proud to present The BUMS, two of the few honest and true Hip Hop craftsmen still out there. The album, “Like This”, is a re-release of the 2008 debut of the duo hailing from North Carolina, and contains a never before released bonus track. We bring you this overlooked gem with the announcement that The BUMS are back with new music coming in 2012.
The BUMS are MO (MC, Producer) from Richmond, VA and TJ Hooky aka Dick Grayson (Producer) from Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA. The acronym BUMS stands for Building Up Musical Sounds, and not without reason. Both MO and TJ come from Hip Hop’s golden age, both produce music and like to blend the all-time great American music like R&B, Soul, Jazz and Funk with the classic Hip Hop from the likes of Dilla, Pete Rock, Madlib, DJ Premier and Dr. Dre.
The BUMS met in 2002 through a mutual friend and shortly after started working on their debut LP, entitled Like This. Although originally released in 2008, the Super Nice crew feels like this LP is not recognized for what it is, a true Hip Hop classic, and therefore decided to re-release the long player to give it the shine it deserves. This fourth Super Nice release is just a warm up to more and better things to come from the unique duo that is The BUMS!
Currently The BUMS are hard at work in the studio to finish off two new projects: A Beautiful World and Bumtacular Fleets, which are both expected to be released on Super Nice Music in 2012. After releasing these two projects MO and TJ hope to expand the sound of The BUMS to different genres such as Jazz/Instrumental and R&B projects.

West Coast producer/emcees The Alchemist and Oh No release Vodka & Ayahausca, their second psych-rap full length as Gangrene on Decon. The new record is a follow-up to their gritty Decon debut Gutter Water. Al & Oh again split their time helming mind-bending beats and spitting tripped-out rhymes. Vodka & Ayahausca boasts choice collabs from Kool G Rap, Prodigy (of Mobb Deep), Dilated ally Evidence, and Greneberg EP collaborator Roc Marciano, who murders the suggestive “Drink Up”. ”Vodka & Ayahuasca” is available here.

L’Orange, the man who brought us the Billie Holiday tribute tape “Old Soul”, is now back on the block in collaboration with the good people from The Find Mag. This now beat tape is an ode to the late great J Dilla, and all samples used in this beat tape are Jay Dee productions. L’Orange on Dilla: “No one has shaped my view of music more than James Yancey. He challenged our idea of music and pushed us towards a more progressive and creative appreciation of hip hop. He died six years ago, but the music lives on in his wake. This project is dedicated to the life and memory of the one and only J Dilla”. Dropping in Dilla Month and being a serenade made in style, this is good food for yer headphones. Peep the DL below.

I just stumbled upon this great title name Illapdelph/matic on my search to some nice good music. Mick Boogie mixed this tape together with The Roots and Nas tracks, there are also some nice remix tracks and forgotten tracks that maybe never caught your ears. Definitely worth checking! Download
